JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Three men were arrested after police say they stole over a thousand dollars in items from a Jonesboro home.

Several police officers were called out early Thursday morning to investigate a reported theft at a home on Word Street.

Officer Rich Rothwell says the victim said he was inside his home asleep when he heard something in the back yard. When he went to investigate, the victim said he saw three white males leaving the back yard pulling a generator towards Third Street.

Police later identified the suspects as Wade Ramsey, Joseph Brock, and Michael Brock.

The told investigators they had been drinking "grape wine" and talking about making some money.  According to police, their plan was to steal the items and take them to a local recycling plant and divide the money amongst themselves.

According to a police report, several items were stolen including a water heater, fence post, generator, and several pieces of metal, worth over $1,000.

Police arrested the three men in connection with the theft. They were all taken to the Craighead County Detention Center.

During a court appearance on Tuesday, Ramsey was given a $2,000 cash or surety bond.  Michael and Joseph Brock were both released on their own recognizance.

Judge Keith Blackman found cause to charge all three men with Theft over a $1,000 but less than $5,000 and criminal trespass.

JPD spoke with the victim; he says all the property recovered was in the same condition it had been in when it was stolen, except the water heater. The victim says the suspects damaged the hoses inside the water heater.
