JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – Three men werearrested after police say they stole over a thousand dollars in items from aJonesboro home.
Several police officers were called outearly Thursday morning to investigate a reported theft at a home on Word Street.
Officer Rich Rothwell says the victimsaid he was inside his home asleep when he heard something in the back yard. Whenhe went to investigate, the victim said he saw three white males leaving theback yard pulling a generator towards Third Street.
Police later identified the suspects asWade Ramsey, Joseph Brock, and Michael Brock.
The told investigators they had beendrinking "grape wine" and talking about making some money. According to police, their plan was to stealthe items and take them to a local recycling plant and divide the money amongstthemselves.
According to a police report, severalitems were stolen including a water heater, fence post, generator, and several piecesof metal, worth over $1,000.
Police arrested the three men inconnection with the theft. They were all taken to the Craighead CountyDetention Center.
During a court appearance on Tuesday, Ramseywas given a $2,000 cash or surety bond. Michael and Joseph Brock were both released on their own recognizance.
Judge Keith Blackman found cause tocharge all three men with Theft over a $1,000 but less than $5,000 and criminaltrespass.
JPD spoke with the victim; he says allthe property recovered was in the same condition it had been in when it was stolen,except the water heater. The victim says the suspects damaged the hoses insidethe water heater.
