Stolen car recovered after traffic stop

SHARP CO, AR (KAIT) - Sharp County authorities have recovered a car reported stolen in Illinois back in 2010. 

According to a press release for the Sharp County Sheriff's Office, a Cave City Police officer stopped a 2003 Pontiac 4-door car Thursday night for not having a license plate on U.S. Highway 167. 

The officer ran the vehicle through N.C.I.C. and it came back as stolen out of Illinois. Police say the vehicle was reported stolen to the Mount Carmel Police Department in August 2010. 

James Allen Treadway, III was arrested and taken to the Sharp County Jail. 

Treadway told officers that he knew the car was stolen and he purchased the car a year and a half ago in St. Louis. 

He's in jail awaiting a court appearance . Police say he'll face a theft by receiving, a class "D" felony.
