Looking For Alleged Check Forgers

Phoney payroll checks and the people who police say are cashing them is our Crimestoppers crime of the week. We have four suspects who police say are running this fake check scheme. Several times since May, the suspects have been caught on tape at Wallace and Owens grocery in Jonesboro, passing payroll checks from Cracker Barrel and Wendy's.

In the most recent incident, detectives tell us, four fake checks from Cracker Barrell were cashed for a total of $1585. Cracker Barrell has confirmed the checks are fake. If you recognize any of these four suspects, call CRIMESTOPPERS, 935-STOP, or toll free 888-566-STOP. No one will ask you name, just give your tip. You will be given a number. If your tip is on the money, money is exactly what you will get.

We have another problem that we need your help with, unselfishness. We've had a lot of tips approved for payment that were never picked up. If you've made a good tip in the last few weeks and don't know if it's worth money, call Sgt. Stephen McDaniel at JPD, 935-5562.

Time for Warrant Watch:

Michael J. Hill has:

  • 3 fail to appear
  • 8 hot check warrants

Robert D. Berry has:

  • 2 non-payment of fines
  • 3 revocation of probation
  • 1 fail to appear
  • 1 hot check warrant

If you know where police can locate Michael Hill or Robert Bberry, call CRIMESTOPPERS, 935-STOP. There's no caller ID, and your call is not recorded. Just call and tell us what you know. And remember, when you see crime, call CRIMESTOPPERS, 935-STOP.
