Searching for past Region 8 stars

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)-- Monday July 15, 1963, was pretty much like any other day in Your Region 8.

The sun had burned off a morning fog, according to the Farmer's Almanac, lifting the temperature to a toasty 88 degrees.

Cardinals fans were probably feeling a little hot under the collar after Lou Brock and the Chicago Cubs shut out St. Louis, 2-0. A year later Brock would be playing for the "right team."

Aside from Paul McCartney being fined 17 British pounds for speeding through his hometown of Liverpool, not much else was happening around the rest of the world.

But at 3:30 p.m. history was made.

KAIT-TV came to life.

Our first offering:  The Indian Fighter starring Kirk Douglas.

Since then much has happened and many people have passed through our doors.

This year we will celebrate our 50th anniversary and we need your help creating our gallery of Region 8 Stars.

If you or someone you know worked at KAIT, send a photo from that time along with the following information to YourRegion8@kait8.com:

  • Name
  • Dates worked at KAIT
  • Position at KAIT
  • Where they are now

Photos, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope, may also be mailed to:
