Drug use leads to two men being shot in Trumann Monday night

TRUMANN, AR (KAIT) – Policesay drug use and negligent use of a firearm led to two men being shot inTrumann Monday night.

According to TrumannPolice, Brandon Whitlach and Zachary Thompson were shot Monday night while theywere using drugs.

Trumann Police ChiefChad Henson, Whitlach pulled out his 9mm handgun when it went off strikingWhitlach in the leg and Thompson in the arm and chest.

Thompson is listed incritical condition, while Whitlach has been released.

Whitlach faces acharge of battery in the second degree.

A third person, TerryMatney, was a witness to the shooting. He was arrested on outstanding warrantfrom Craighead County. He doesn't face any charges in connection to theshooting.
