Walnut Ridge job fair connects job providers to job seekers

WALNUT RIDGE, AR (KAIT)- Potential employees got the chance to connect with local businesses in Walnut Ridge on Tuesday through a job fair.

The Arkansas Department of Workforce Services along with the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce sponsored the fair to give residents an opportunity to network with employers.

L.J. Bryant, with the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce, says, "While unemployment is continually lower in Lawrence County, and even Arkansas, there's plenty of employers who have job opportunities and there's plenty of Arkansans that need jobs so we're trying to bring those folks together."

Walnut Ridge resident, Nicole Fortson, thinks this job fair is more effective than searching for work via the internet. Fortson says, "It's better to go one-on-one with someone from a department than it is to go online because you can get more information from talking to somebody than you can off the internet."

The job fair is an annual event and is free to the public.
