BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) – The Independence County Sheriff's Department arrested one man after receiving a call of a robbery.

According to the sheriff's department, officers were called to Hardee's around 11:30 Tuesday night. An employee at the restaurant told them a man, later identified by officers as Curtis Watson of Batesville, demanded money in the registers. The employee said Watson also had one hand in his jacket to make it look like he had a weapon. He made off with about $270 in cash, officers stated.

While investigating the incident at Hardee's, Watson was spotted just down the road at Taco Bell. According to officers, Watson attempted to rob that restaurant, but he left while the manager was being called to the front.

Watson was later arrested on two counts of felony aggravated robbery early Wednesday morning.  No weapon was recovered by officers and no injuries were reported.

He is currently in the Independence County Jail.

In April, Williams Baptist cross country runner Alex Van Herpen competed in the prestigious Boston Marathon. An incredible feat. Learning about his path to get there, it stopped me in my tracks. Five years ago Alex was bound to a wheelchair. in January of 2011, he was diagnosed with strep throat, the flu and mono all within a two week period. For five months Alex was bound to a wheel chair. One day he just got up and walked. Medical experts had no explanation for any of it.  ...
