JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) – A class was held to teach the public the difference between a heart attack and a stroke on Friday.
As a part of National Stroke Awareness month, St. Bernards is hosting a Stroke Program in conjunction with Health South Rehabilation Hospital.
A stoke class took place at the St. Bernards Health and Wellness institute. They discussed the different needs for stroke victims.
Community Educator Amanda McMillon says the biggest problems they face are people ignoring the symptoms.
"People sometimes feel the symptoms but do not visit a doctor and the worst thing you can do is wait" says McMillon.
Their advice is to seek medical help immediately when a symptom of stroke pops up.
The next event will be a stoke awareness screening on Saturday May 18 at the Mall at Turtle Creek. .
