POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

Police are looking for the suspect in an armed robbery at Swafford's Amoco in Poplar Bluff Friday night.

According to the Poplar Bluff Police Department, around 8:50 p.m. officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 1300 block of N Westwood Boulevard.

Employees told officers that a white male described as being 5' 10'' to 5' 11'', 210-220 pounds wearing a Carhartt jacket and a Halloween mask parked a white SUV in front of the front door and entered the store.

The suspect displayed a handgun and demanded the clerk give him cash.

When the clerk did not respond to the suspect's demands quickly enough, he discharged the weapon twice, once into a display and once into the floor.

When the clerk gave the cash to the suspect he went back to his vehicle and fled the scene.

The suspect was last seen on foot around S 11th and US 67 approximately 30 minutes before the robbery and officials say the vehicle used in the robbery was stolen at that same time.

A little while later, officers responded to a report of a white SUV on fire in the intersection of Abbey Road and Iron Bridge Road in Poplar Bluff.

The Poplar Bluff Fire Department responded and put out the fire.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Poplar Bluff Police Department at 573-785-5776.
