Police: Man tries to hide pot in bush at scene of accident

FORREST CITY, AR (KAIT) – A man is behind bars after police found marijuana in his possession when reporting to the scene of a two-vehicle accident on Friday.

Forrest City Police were called out to an accident in the area of North Washington. When questioning witnesses about the accident, a witness told Officer Carnell Jacobs she saw a man hide a bag of marijuana in a nearby bush.

Officer Jacobs checked the bushes and found a large bag of Marijuana. The driver 27-year-old Weston Lewis of Fayetteville and the passenger 31-year-old Michael Spencer of Forrest City were both arrested for possessing marijuana.

The accident is still being investigated by law enforcement and additional charges are pending.

Chief Reynolds told Region 8 News, "I would like to thank the watchful eye of the community. This is a perfect example of community policing when the community and the police department work together".

There were no injuries in the accident.
