Corps seeks comments on planned boat races

MOUNTAIN HOME, Ark. (USACE) -- The Army Corps of Engineers Mountain Home Project Office will be accepting public comments until May 30 on a proposal by the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce to conduct hydroplane boat races at Pigeon Creek Park on Norfork Lake. 

The races, scheduled for July 19 thru 21, would be open to the public but would require a $5 per vehicle entrance fee.  The park and arm of the lake adjacent will be closed to the public, except for paying customers during the event.

The event schedule is:

  • Friday: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. test runs
  • Saturday: 10 a.m. – noon test runs; opening ceremony; racing 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
  • Sunday: 10 a.m. – noon test runs; racing 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

Comments can be e-mailed to Chief Recreation Ranger Mark Case at mark.j.case@usace.army.mil. Individuals may also deliver or mail comments to the Corps of Engineers Mountain Home Project Office, 324 W. 7th Street, Mountain Home, Arkansas  72653. Office hours are 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. weekdays, except holidays.
