AUGUST 27, 2004 - Posted at 5:01 p.m. CDT

JONESBORO, AR - A second person has been arrested in connection with the June 12 death of an eastern Craighead County man.

Following several rounds of questionings over the past two months, Craighead County Sheriff's deputies today arrested Beverly Coats, charging her with hindering apprehension in the investigation into the death of her husband, 51-year-old Dennis Coats.

The arrest comes one day after authorities arrested 43-year-old Judy Flanagan of Lepanto in the case.  Flanagan is charged with capital murder.  Following her probable cause hearing Wednesday afternoon, she collapsed as she was led by deputies from the Jonesboro Justice Complex.

Beverly Coats appeared before District Court Judge Ray Spruell this afternoon for a probable cause hearing.  Spruell set her bond at $500,000.
