BAXTER COUNTY, AR (KAIT)-A man was caught speeding 57 miles over the limit Wednesday near Lakeview.

Deputy Doug Meurer noticed a vehicle traveling towards him on Highway 178 at a high rate of speed. He clocked the vehicle on his radar going 112 miles per hour in a 55 mile per hour speed zone.

The vehicle did not stop when Deputy Meurer activated his blue lights and proceeded to speed past him. Meurer gave a description of the vehicle to the Baxter County Dispatch, but was not able to catch the suspect.

The vehicle was later located at the Baxter Regional Medical Center by Mountain Home Police. Sergeant Corbett had clocked the automobile traveling 76 miles per hour near Hospital Drive, but the suspect did not stop for police.

The driver, 21-year-old, Jacob Caple admitted to seeing the police but was headed to the hospital to see a family member. Oxycotin was found in Caple's vehicle during a search.

Caple was charged with speeding, reckless driving, fleeing in vehicle, no seat belt, and possession of a controlled substance.

His bond was set at $3,500 and will appear in court on Thursday.
