Valley View boys soccer claims first-ever state title

FAYETTEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A late goal by the goal-keeper of all players lifted the Valley View Blazers boys soccer team to their first-ever state championship on Saturday.

The game was scoreless for the majority of the match before Central Arkansas Christian took a lead with a goal in the second half. But the Blazers wouldn't be down long when a Bradley McBride corner kick found Taylor Brown for the game tying goal to tie it up at one goal a piece.

One overtime wouldn't be enough and finally penalty kicks would be needed to decide the 4A State title. After several good saves at Goalie, Cade Simmons would hit the game-winning penalty kick to send Valley View boys into a celebration frenzy.

The Blazers claimed their first boys state championship in the history of the school with the 3-2 Double Overtime win.

The game was moved up to 10 a.m. so the team could return to Jonesboro in time for their graduation that night.
