Grant makes it possible to feed over 2,000 families

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - TheFood Bank of Northeast Arkansas was awarded a $500 grant from the ArkansasCommunity Foundation on Monday.

This money will be used inthe Cross County area as a part of their Core Food Distribution Program.

Vicki Pillow with the FoodBank says they distributed 4 million pounds of food to families at risk ofhunger in 2013.

This is a 1 million poundincrease of food when compared to 2012.

"People are just having ahard time making ends meet.  We havefamilies in our service area who are making tough choice between foods andputting gas in the car to go to work, food or going to the doctor, food orpaying their utilities.  They're makingsome really tough choices so right now times are just tough", Pillow says.

She always said for every1 dollar donated to the food bank they can feed 5 families.
