WEST MEMPHIS, AR - Family and friends turned out by the hundreds yesterday to remember a 7-year-old Gilmore girl. Patricia Ann Miles' body was found only after a five-day search through the fields and ditches of northeast Arkansas. She was memorialized yesterday at a funeral in Beautiful Zion Baptist Church at West Memphis.
Linda Malone, director of the church day-care center where Patricial spent much of her time the past two years, said the little girl had a beautiful spirit. Malone said that, when she thinks of Patricia, all she can do is smile.
Patricia was last seen by her family riding her bike to a grocery store in Gilmore on August 15. Her body was found August 19 after an intensive search in parts of three Delta counties. A woman who sometimes babysat the girl, Jo Ann Buchanan, has been charged with kidnapping the girl. She is being held in the Crittenden County jail in Marion in lieu of $1 million bond.
No charges have been filed in the girl's death. An autopsy showed the girl was suffocated.
