I-55 Accident in SeMo Claims Five Lives

SCOTT CITY, MO - Three adults and two children from Louisiana are dead after a van crash in southeast Missouri.

Police say the van crossed into the median between two bridges on Interstate-55, went airborne and tumbled across a creek, landing on its roof on an embankment.

At least three of the victims were thrown from the vehicle.  The dead children were one and three years old.

In addition to the dead, two others in the van, including the driver, were hospitalized with serious injuries.

The accident occured yesterday morning near Scott City, about ten miles south of Cape Girardeau.
