Police searching for person of interest in shooting injuring 3 year old

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Police in Jonesboro are investigating a shooting that happened overnight that injured a toddler.

According to Sgt. Lyle Waterworth, officers were called early Thursday morning to 2216 Fairfield Drive in regards to shots fired and that a child may have been hurt.

Police say they found a bullet hole in the front door when they arrived. A three-year-old boy which had been sleeping on the couch at the time of the shooting was hit, Sgt. Waterworth stated.

The boy was taken to a local hospital and then a children's hospital. Police say the toddler is in now in stable condition. 

JPD is currently seeking a person of interest in the shooting.
