ASP investigating possible theft at Jackson Co. Circuit Clerk's Office

JACKSON COUNTY, AR (KAIT) – The Arkansas State Police is investigating allegations of theft at the Jackson County Circuit Clerk's Office.

Lt. Brant Tosh confirmed that ASP began looking into these allegations last week upon the request of Henry Boyce, the Prosecuting Attorney for the state's Third Judicial District.

Boyce says he requested the investigation after receiving a confidential tip about possible wrongdoing in the circuit clerk's office.

Lt. Tosh says ASP has now turned over its findings to the prosecutor's office, but the investigation is still ongoing.

Boyce says he has received the file, but has decided to recuse himself from the case because of a conflict of interest.

He has asked that a special prosecutor be appointed to take the case and review the evidence.

No charges have been officially filed at this time.
