Among the many top Heartland finishers at the Missouri State Track and Field Championships in Jefferson City, the Ste. Genevieve girls team claimed the top prize, winning the Class 3 title.
The Lady Dragons were led by freshman Taylor Werner who won the 1600m and 800m run. Freshman teammate Mia Jerman placed 6th in the 1600m run.
On the boys side, Sikeston had an impressive showing, finishing 5th overall in Class 3. The Bulldogs claimed first place in the 4x100m and 4x200m relay teams, led by junior Steven Baker, senior Spenser Clark, senior Kyland Gross and senior Nick Nichols. The Sikeston boys also finished 5th in the 4x400m relay. Gross took 3rd in the long jump and Tyler McClinton placed 5th in the high jump.
Other top finishers included the Kennett boys 4x200m relay team finishing 2nd, and the Notre Dame boys 4x800m relay team, placing 4th.
Jackson senior Brannon Wright finished 6th in the 100m and 200m dash.
Dexter freshman Mackayla Waldner finished third in the girls 100m run, and Jackson's Paden Wachter took second in the shot put.
