MOUNTAIN HOME, AR - Four workers for North Arkansas Electric Cooperative were hurt in an explosion in Mountain Home this afternoon.  Officials say three of the crew members sustained severe injuries when a transformer they were moving exploded in a "fireball."

Cooperative spokesman Jerry Estes says the utility crew does not yet know why the transformer exploded.  He says the crew was changing a 64,000-volt transformer that was moved to a different electric substation.

Estes said the transformer exploded in a fireball.

The incident occured shortly before 3 p.m.

The injured were taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center, two by AirEvac helicopters.
