JONESBORO, AR (ASU) — Arkansas State seniors Alex Potts and John Koch were named to the 2013 Sun Belt Conference All-Tournament team, which was announced at the conclusion of Sunday's championship game.
Potts turned in one of the most dominating performances of the tournament at the plate, posting a .538 batting average with seven hits, two of which were doubles, four runs scored and an RBI. He had a .692 slugging percentage in his four games and a .600 on-base percentage. He also had 10 assists and did not commit an error during the tournament.
Koch pitched in both of ASU's victories in the tournament and did not allow a run in 6 1/3 innings. He pitched the final 2 2/3 of ASU's 10-4 victory over Western Kentucky in an elimination game on Thursday to keep the Red Wolves alive in the tournament. He gave up just three hits and struck out in the win. He came back on Friday to get the win in A-State's 3-2 win over top-seeded Troy, which eliminated the Trojans from competition. For the tournament he gave up just five hits, had five strikeouts and held opponents to a .217 batting average.
The Red Wolves went 2-2 at the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship and became the only team to win at least two games in the tournament in each of the last four years.
