Arkansas State bowler Sarah Lokker was named to the Junior Team USA roster that will participate in the Pan American Bowling Confederation (PABCON) Youth Championships that will be held July 7-12 in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
Lokker is the first Arkansas State bowler to travel to an international competition with Junior Team USA. The PABCON Youth Championships features countries in the American Zone competing against each other in singles, doubles, trios, team, all-events and match-play Masters.
"I'm very proud of Sarah for being the first A-State bowler to travel with Junior Team USA to an international competition," ASU bowling coach Justin Kostick said. "It's a huge honor for anyone that gets an opportunity to represent their country on the international stage."
Along with Lokker, the U.S. girls' roster includes Natalie Goodman (Vanderbilt), Robyn Renslow (Vanderbilt), and Mary Wells (Central Missouri).
Lokker, who was a sophomore this past season, was instrumental in leading A-State to the NCAA Tournament semifinals and a school-record 91 victories. She was the Mid-Winter Invitational tournament MVP while also earning all-tournament honors at the Crusader Classic and Kat Klash Invitational. She was second on the team in average pins per game at 202.8 and first on the team in total pinfall with 10,747.
At the conclusion of the regular season she was named a second-team NTCA All-American selection. This was her second All-American selection of her career after being named the NTCA Rookie of the Year and third-team NTCA All-American as a freshman.
