Arkansas Veterans to Condemn Republican Attacks on Kerry Today

LITTLE ROCK, AR - A group of Little Rock veterans say they plan to gather at the state Capitol today to condemn Republican Party attacks on veterans who have Purple Hearts.

Among those attending, according to a press release, include Fred Short, a North Little Rock resident who served with Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry.  The veterans also say they want to set the facts straight about John Kerry's service in Vietnam.

The veterans said they were particularly upset that attendees at the Republican National Convention wore Band Aids with Purple Hearts on Monday night.  They said the move knocked veterans who earned the medal, including John Kerry.
