Craighead County Resident Tests Positive for West Nile Virus

JONESBORO, AR - The Arkansas Department of Health released information last night stating that a Craighead County resident has tested positive for the mosquito-borne West Nile virus.

A Health Department report says the number of human cases of West Nile in the state has now climbed to ten, with three new cases reported yesterday, including the one in Craighead County.  Other positive tests were reported in Pulaski and Ouachita counties.

No human deaths in Arkansas have been attributed to West Nile this year.

As is health department policy, no other details of any of the newly reported cases were released, including the name or gender of the victim.
