INDEPENDENCE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A man fell almost 30 feet off a popular climbing and rappelling mountain south of Batesville.
Numerous law enforcement agencies and emergency responders were called to Jamestown Mountain Saturday morning.
According to the Independence County Office of Emergency Management, a climber in his mid-50s apparently fell while trying to secure himself to the bluff.
The man broke his left leg during the fall and sustained major injuries to his left hand as well as possible internal damage from hitting rocks, according to OEM.
It took emergency responders three hours to lift the man from the base of the bluff using a Stokes basket and transport him to a helicopter.
Authorities are not releasing the man's name, nor do they have an update on his medical condition at this time.
