Central Arkansas tops Mercer 6-5 in 11 innings

STARKVILLE, MS (AP) - Jonathan Davis scored the go-ahead run on a throwing error in the 11th inning to lead Central Arkansas to a 6-5 victory over Mercer in an NCAA regional Saturday.

Central Arkansas (40-21) led 5-1 before allowing three runs in the seventh inning. Mercer tied the game in the bottom of the ninth on Chesny Young's run-scoring double to right field.

In the top of the 11th, Davis reached on an error and then stole second. Ethan Harris' groundout advanced Davis to third, and then C.J. Reed overthrew home plate after catching a pop up to right field, allowing Davis to score.

Harris finished 2 for 4 with two RBIs. Michael Marietta also had two RBIs. Bryce Biggerstaff (6-4) worked five innings of relief to earn the win. He struck out three and allowed one earned run.

The loss eliminated Mercer (43-18) from the tournament.
