Region 8 donations to help out Moore Tornado victims

POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - People had the chance to donate items in Pocahontas to help the victims of the tornadoes in Moore, Oklahoma.

The donations were collected at the Wal-Mart in Pocahontas. The items ranged from food to hygienic products such as toothpaste, napkins and soap.

Michael Johnson was one of the organizers behind the donation booth and says collecting items for the victims was the right thing to do.

"It's just something we can do, and we can give to someone in need, so that's the most important thing; Helping other people whenever they need it", Johnson said.

People were also encouraged to make a monetary donation.

Johnson plans to head to Oklahoma Monday night, allowing him to arrive Tuesday morning.

The donations will be transported with the support of several churches in Region 8.
