EUGENE, OR (KAIT) - Sharika Nelvis finished 16th in the nation in the 100 meter hurdles last year. Entering the 2013 outdoor season, the A-State standout set her sights on a first-team All-America selection.
The Memphis native has done just that. Nelvis won heat 2 of the 100m hurdles Thursday at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Her time of 12.84 was the 2nd fastest time of the day.
Nelvis will have a chance to race for a national championship on Saturday. She'll run in the 100m hurdles final Saturday at 5:09pm. You can watch the race on ESPNU.
She wasn't the only Red Wolf to compete in the NCAA Outdoors Thursday. Solomon Williams finished 5th in heat 2 of the 110 meter hurdles. His time of 13.80 missed the final by just .35 seconds. Williams finishes 12th in the nation.
