JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - The mother who admitted to slamming her baby's head onto a door frame plead guilty in Craighead County Circuit Court Tuesday.

According to Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington's Office, Victoria L. Madden pled guilty to 22 years in the Arkansas Department of Correction, followed by 120 months suspended sentence.

Doctors at Lebhoner Children's Hospital in Memphis said the child's injuries are life changing.

According to the Jonesboro Police Department, Madden slammed the 5-month-old baby's head into a door frame in a fit of anger on June 5.

Madden was convicted of battery and endangering the welfare of a minor. She will be transported from the Craighead County Detention Center to the ADC.

Sgt. Lyle Waterworth said a detective was called out to an emergency room to check on the welfare of a child, who had a skull fracture.

After further investigation, the child's condition was much more severe.

According to court records, Madden told Jonesboro police she became angry at her 5-month old baby crying and smashed the baby's head against the door frame of her bedroom.

"It's important that we get the baby taken care of  and that's the most important thing in this matter," Waterworth said shortly after the initial investigation.
