Authorities search Red River for 2 missing men

GARLAND CITY, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say two men who disappeared when their boat overturned while they were fishing near Garland City in southwestern Arkansas remain missing.

The search continued Saturday for 60-year-old Bill Cooper and 56-year-old John Fairbanks after their boat capsized Friday. A woman who was also in the boat was rescued by other fishermen and was treated and released at a Texarkana hospital.

Arkansas Game and Fish Commission agents have taken over the search and told KSLA-TV that high waters have made the search difficult and they hope to resume looking for the men on Sunday.

Sheriff Ron Stovall told reporters that the woman - 29-year-old Julia Lopez of Texarkana - said the boat overturned after the three put out an anchor. Stovall said Cooper is Lopez's father and that Fairbanks is her boyfriend.
