PUXICO, MO (KFVS) -

A fire at a Puxico church Saturday caused damage to the sanctuary and baptistery.

Services at Greater Vision Worship Center are temporarily being held in the Sunday School and education building in the back of the church.

Pastor Marty Bryant says this shows that a church is not about the building but about the people inside, serving the Lord together.

"Our God is still the same," Bryant said. "He brought us from nothing to where we were on Saturday, so He'll take us from where we are now to where we need to go."

Members of the church are also looking for positives during this time of loss. Jennifer Jones and her family have been attending Greater Vision Worship Center for more than three years.

"This is just a building," Jones said. "We are the church. So, the church must go on. Around here we don't necessarily have a lot, but we do a lot with a little. Now, we're going to do a lot with a little bit less."

The fire happened during vacation bible school week. VBS service was still held Saturday night in the small building located behind the church.
