JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - TheFood Bank of Northeast Arkansas has received a $1,000 grant from theMississippi County Community Foundation.
The food bank will usethis grant to install more food shelving in two partner agencies in Osceola.
Vicki Pillow with theNorth East Arkansas Food Bank says this will allow them to distribute more foodto the needy.
Right now, limited storagespace has prevented them from meeting the need in the area.
They are currently meeting50 percent of Feeding America's pounds per person in poverty.
Pillow says hopefully thisis just the beginning.
We are working to hit that100 percent pounds per person in poverty that Feeding America sets", says VickiPillow.
The NEA Food Bankcurrently serves more than five thousand people at risk of hunger in 12counties.
