Digital Jadeveon Clowney is best player in football, EA Sports says

Posted: Updated:
COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) -

The No. 7 defensive end for the South Carolina Gamecocks is the best player in football, according to video game developer EA Sports.

Wait, why are we referring to him by just his number? After all, he has a name Gamecocks fans know and adore. Well, certain rules prevent an active player's name from being used in a video game, the developers can't come out and say Jadeveon Clowney is the top rated player in the next version of NCAA Football.

So instead, we have to tell you that a digital representation of Clowney is the game's top rated player with a score of 99 out of 100.

With that established, South Carolina fans who purchase the game will be using No. 7 of the Gamecocks to flatten Georgia QB No. 11, terrorize Florida QB No. 6, and potentially sack Alabama QB No. 10.

Two other players from the Palmetto State crack EA Sports' top 15 players and both of them from Clemson. Those two players are No. 2 WR and No. 10 QB. In the real world, that's Sammy Watkins and Tajh Boyd.

Digital or not, video game rankings don't translate well to actual on-field play, but they do provide more ammo for college football fans.
