An East Prairie man accused of killing a woman in November 2010 near East Prairie pleaded guilty to second degree murder.

Robert Christian, 29, of East Prairie is accused of the beating death of Laura Faison on Nov. 13, 2010.

The judge sentenced Christian to 24 years in the Missouri Department of Corrections as part of the plea deal.

Faison's mother, Susan Faison, drove more than 800 miles to attend the plea hearing. She held up a picture of her daughter as the victim's advocate read Susan Faison's statement to the court, according to Mississippi County Prosecutor Darren Cann.

"Glad it's finally done," Faison said. "Glad we finally got justice?"

"Was justice served?" asked Heartland News.

"I think in the long run it will be," Faison said. "I think he's not good so wherever he's going, he'll get more. We would just like to hope that something is learned We don't want anybody else to go through this."

Christian is also accused of beating another man. He was charged with assault in that case.
