Poplar Bluff PD: Weekend shooting accidental

POPLAR BLUFF, MO(KAIT) – A shooting on Sunday was deemed accidental by police after beingcalled to assist a man who had been shot.

According to PoplarBluff police, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of South 5thStreet Sunday around 10:45 p.m. in reference to someone who had been shot.

Police say BrandonHolloman of Springfield was taken a Poplar Bluff hospital for treatment of agunshot wound to the abdomen. Holloman told police Fernando Minnis shot himaccidentally while "playing" with the handgun.

Holloman went on totell officers that he had examined the gun and pulled the trigger without itfiring before handing it to Minnis.

Other witnessesinterviewed at the scene confirmed Holloman's account, police say.
