Pop singer Nick Lachey sends "traitor" tweet to Chiquita

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Pop singer Nick Lachey, who is in town for a concert in uptown Charlotte on Wednesday night, rolled into town and immediately hit Twitter with his thoughts.

"Just pulled into Charlotte and saw the @chiquita building," he tweeted around 9:31 a.m. Wednesday morning. "Can't help but think it should still be in Cincy. #traitors #dole."

Chiquita moved its Global Corporate headquarters Charlotte in 2012. The company moved into the 19-story NASCAR Plaza office tower in uptown after its lease on its downtown Cincinnati headquarters ran out.

Lachey, who grew up in Cincinnati, is the lead singer of the boy band 98 Degrees.

He sent multiple tweets to fans, one of them recalling about memories of checking the weather in Cincinnati by seeing what color was at the top of the Chiquita building.

He did take a second dig at Charlotte - sort of - when a fan suggested that he "join us in Charlotte."

"I'm sticking with the REAL queen city......Cincinnati," he tweeted. "Much respect for the home of @JimmieJohnson though! Charlotte is cool."

Both cities go by the nickname the "Queen City."

The 90s boy band has teamed up with New Kids on the Block and Boyz II Men for a concert at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Wednesday night.
