CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) - The sinkhole problem in Cape Girardeau is getting worse.
Cape Girardeau public works director Tim Gramling told the Southeast Missourian (http://bit.ly/16OeOoj ) that continued flooding on the Mississippi River is causing additional sinkholes to show up on the city's south side. There are not only more of them, they're growing in size.
The area near a creek along Sprigg Street has four sinkholes. The city is trying to determine if anything can be done about the problem. Efforts in the past to fill in the holes with rock and concrete haven't helped.
