Officers train on Active shooter scenarios

CRAIGHEAD COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Squad cars from law enforcement agencies all over Region 8 were at Riverside High School Tuesday afternoon.

The Craighead County Sheriff's Department hosted an active shooter training class that lasted two days.

Sheriff Marty Boyd with the Craighead County Sheriff's Department says this year they decided to open up the special training to any agency inside Craighead County for one very important reason. . .

"If we do  have a situation like that, we're not going to be coming by ourselves.  It's going to be the responding officers from the other communities coming to assist.  So, it's very important that we all are on the same page and we know what the operation is and what we're going to do", says Boyd.

Sheriff Boyd says they'll be offering this training again to officers in July.
