ASU Newport bolsters food services training with new funding

NEWPORT, AR (KAIT)- Things are really cooking at ASU's Newport campus.

The school received nearly 98-thousand dollars from the Delta Regional Authority on Thursday. The money will be used for the Food and Hospitality Services program.

Chairman Chris Masingill says, "The best investment we can make is training our workforce."

School officials hope it will help students jump from the frying pan into well-paying jobs.

Larry Williams, Chancellor of ASU Newport says, "When students come through here, they will not only have the basic knowledge as far as the management and food preparation, but they'll have an excellent education foundation that will lead directly to employment."

Classes will begin in the fall.
