JONESBORO, AR (KAIT)- Around 50 people dedicated part of their day Saturday to raising awareness about child abuse. The Northeast Arkansas Children's Advocacy Center hosted a 5k to benefit the organization's prevention program.
The center serves nine counties and focuses on prevention and intervention.
Kristy Nichols, the executive director of C-A-C, says events like the 5k are great way to educate the community.
Nichols says, "we're here today to kind of spread the word about our prevention program getting it out there that groups and organizations that want us to come out and do these programs with them, we will be happy to come out and share what we have and what we know."
Nichols says they decided to change it up this year and have the race in front of the center.
