Steele police arrest armed robbery suspect

STEELE, MO (KAIT) – A 32-year-old man is in jail following an investigation into an armed robbery.

According to Steele Police Department Chief Billy Joe Stanfield, the armed robbery happened Monday night around 10:45 at the Flash Market Convenience Store on North Walnut Street.

A store clerk told police someone came into the store holding a handgun and demanded money from the register.

During the course of the investigation police along with a deputy from the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department arrested the 32-year-old man from Steele. Evidence was taken from the man's home and vehicle police say.

The man's name has not been released pending a warrant from the Pemiscot County prosecutor. He is currently in jail on charges of first degree robbery and armed criminal action.
