Steele police arrest armed robbery suspect

STEELE, MO (KAIT) –A 32-year-old man is in jail following an investigation into an armed robbery.

According to SteelePolice Department Chief Billy Joe Stanfield, the armed robbery happened Mondaynight around 10:45 at the Flash Market Convenience Store on North WalnutStreet.

A store clerk toldpolice someone came into the store holding a handgun and demanded money from theregister.

During the courseof the investigation police along with a deputy from the Pemiscot CountySheriff's Department arrested the 32-year-old man from Steele. Evidence wastaken from the man's home and vehicle police say.

The man's name hasnot been released pending a warrant from the Pemiscot County prosecutor. He iscurrently in jail on charges of first degree robbery and armed criminal action.
