Federal aid available for Poinsett Co. town with damaged bridge and building

POINSETT COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - Federal disaster aid has been made available for Poinsett County in the areas affected by storms, tornadoes, and flooding early June.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will supplement state and local recovery efforts in areas such as Harrisburg, where flood waters washed out a bridge and damaged a city-owned building.

Harrisburg Mayor Randy Mills says the bridge on South Street costs about $245,000 to replace.

The annual community event Festival on the Ridge was also rescheduled due to the weather.

Poinsett is one of 11 Arkansas counties declared disasters during the period of May 30th to June 3rd.
