Man killed after stepping out in front of truck

OZARK ACRES, AR (KAIT) – A man walking down a Sharp County highway has died after being hit by a commercial truck.

According to Arkansas State Police, David Dwayne Halfacre, 43, of Williford died after being hit by a truck late Monday night. The incident happened at mile marker nine on U.S. Highway 63 near the Ozark Acres community.

Police say Halfacre was walking in the middle of the southbound lane. The truck, also traveling south, tried to go around the man, but the crash report states he stepped out in front of the truck.

The truck driver was not injured.
