MAYNARD, AR (KAIT) - Henry Boyce, prosecuting attorney for the Third Judicial District, said a Level 4 sex offender has moved to Maynard.

Jason Charles Bloomfield, 32, was convicted in 2005 of sexual indecency with a child. He was accused of exposing himself and soliciting sexual contact with two 12-year-old girls.

Boyce sent a letter to many in the Region 8 community, warning them of Bloomfield's new residence in Maynard. Boyce said he does not write letters like this often, but thought Bloomfield is "so alarming" that he had to raise more awareness to more residents.

Boyce told Region 8 News on the phone that someone has to be pretty bad to receive a level four rating.

Even though Bloomfield is living right outside the city limits, the Maynard Police Department said they will still be keeping a close eye on him.

"There's kids around the park all the time, seven days a week. Then you have the issue with the school which it'll be starting up here within a month," Police Chief Lonnie Cline said.

Cline said they rely on everyone to keep an eye on predators like this. "You watch for any suspicious activity involved, when there might be something going on that shouldn't."

Cline said sex offenders are one of the department's top priorities. "There's others in the area, also. I can assure you when I see them, I know them on a first-name basis."

Cline said policing these sex offenders is a collaborative effort between the police department, the sheriff's department and the community. "That's the whole purpose of it. To make sure they're, you know, evaluating what they're supposed to be doing and what they're not supposed to be doing."
