QUITMAN, TX (KLTV) -

A spokesperson with the Wood County Sheriff's Department says that the manhunt for Daniel McLemore is over. Officials on the scene say that McLemore was shot by law enforcement officials. He was then transported to East Texas Medical Center where his condition is unknown.

Just before 12:30 on Tuesday afternoon, several shots were fired near County Road 3145 in Wood County and a line of police cars, with their lights and sirens on, headed towards the direction of the gunfire. An ambulance also arrived on the scene with lights and sirens.

"The subject is now in custody. He has been wounded. We don't know the extent of those wound, but he has been Careflighted at this time," said Wood County Sheriff Jim Brown.

Rains County Department of Public Safety officials say they received a call on Monday at 11:26 p.m. about an incident in the 3500 block of Farm to Market Road 2088 in Quitman.

According to Sheriff Jim Brown, McLemore fired at officers when they responded to his address early Tuesday morning. Officers returned fire but no one was injured. He says McLemore will be charged with attempted capital murder and bond set at $500,000.

A helicopter, horse-mounted officers and bloodhounds were used to search for the suspect. DPS units from four different counties responded to the scene taking part in the manhunt. It is unknown what prompted authorities to come to the area or if the man barricaded himself into a home or in the woods.

Officials say McLemore's wife and daughters are all safe at a location outside the search area. At this time, people in the area are being kept about 100 yards away from the home where deputies say the shots were initially fired.

The Texas Rangers are assisting the Wood County Sheriff's Department in the investigation.
