TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) -

The following is a statement from the Tucson Police Officers Association:

A Message to the Tucson Community:

By now, many of you have heard the news that a member of the Tucson Police Department was arrested today, and subsequently terminated from the Agency.

No one could be more disappointed by this news than the men and women who are so proud to protect our community on a daily basis. The simple fact of the matter is this: behind the badge, and beyond the uniform, is a human being, responsible for their own actions. We fully support a full investigation into this matter and we ask for patience as the facts unfold.

This will truly be a dark day for those of us who take pride in our community and our profession. We would like to commend the judicious response from both the Tucson Police Department and the Pima County Sheriff's Department in resolving this matter as quickly as possible.

Rest assured that the actions of this one individual are not representative in any way of the men and women of the Tucson Police Department, or Law Enforcement anywhere. All we can promise this community is our constant vigilance. There will be good days, and there will be bad. But tonight, the men and women of the Tucson Police Department will still be out there responding to flash floods, prowlers, and burglaries.

We won't be distracted by the negative actions of one individual. We will do the job Tucson expects us to do. We thank all of you for your continued support.
