SEPTEMBER 11, 2004 - Posted at 11:07 a.m. CDT

CORNING, AR - For the second straight day and third time in the past twelve days, a Region 8 child has apparently been struck by a motorist in a vehicle/pedestrian accident.

A dispatcher with the Corning Police Department confirmed for K8 News this morning that a person, beleived to be a child, was hit by a motorist shortly after 10 a.m. in the Clay County town.  The dispatcher said an air-ambulance had been dispatched to the scene, but could release no other details at the time.

According to one caller, the accident happened in the vicinity of Larue Motors, which is located at 200 North Missouri Avenue in Corning.

The accident follows another accident that happened Friday afternoon in Paragould in which a child was struck by a motorist near Baldwin Elementary School before being airlifted to LeBonheur Children's Medical Center in Memphis.  On August 31, seven-year-old Brian Davis of Jonesboro was killed after riding his bicycle into the path of a Jonesboro School District bus in front of South Elementary School.
