Perhaps it was the fact that Alabama's new offensive coordinator was coaching from the sideline. Perhaps it was that screen grab with less than two minutes remaining in the first quarter that went viral.

For a while, it looked like the college football world was going to be upended in the first week of play, but it all worked out according to plan in the end.

HOOVER, AL (WBRC) -

Once again, University of Alabama fans came out in force at the Hyatt Regency-Wynfrey Hotel.

Thursday wrapped up SEC Media Days 2013 with Alabama and other teams. Fans came out for one reason:

"I'm an Alabama fan," nine-year-old Joshua Hughes said.

Twenty-three-year-old Shannon Villa of Birmingham knows how to stand out in a crowd with his championship ring hat.

"Oh man, it's unique. It's something different. I got it on Facebook, on Championship Ring Hats. You don't see it every day. It brings a smile to people's faces," Villa said.

What the brought the biggest smiles to Crimson Tide fans was seeing Coach Nick Saban arrive.

Linebacker CJ Mosely was mobbed by fans seeking his autograph. Quarterback AJ McCarron worked the crowd, signing autographs and having his picture taken.

Seven-year-old Katilyn Thornton was one of the lucky few.

"He is my boyfriend," Katilyn said of McCarron.

Katilyn's father James Thornton wanted his daughters to experience SEC Media Days.

"I wanted to bring them out here. Let them experience the atmosphere of the SEC, get autographs and meet some of the players," James Thornton said.

Ten-year-old Elijah Otwel managed to get a number of high profile autographs so far, including Georgia Coach Mark Richt and LSU Coach Les Miles. But Otwell, a big Bama fan, still wants to get Coach Saban's signature.

"I watch every game every year. I love Alabama. They're my favorite team overall," Otwell said.

SEC Commissioner Mike Slive said fans are a big part of media days and there are no fans like SEC fans.

"I think you are in the middle of something you don't see in anywhere else in the country," Slive said.

Bama fans would certainly agree.

"Roll tide," Katilyn said.
